Lexington
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Lexington area.

Many Kentucky Derby champions have been bred and reared on the famous horse farms around Lexington, the classic white fences of which frame acres of rolling green countryside surrounding the city, preserving a rural and natural feel in this growing metropolitan area. Although in a dry county, the distilleries around Lexington offer excellent programs on the process of making Bourbon whiskey, a largely corn-based spirit indigenous to the Bluegrass area which first became popular on riverboats to New Orleans, named after the pure spring water of Bourbon County by the first distiller of American whiskey in the late 1700s. The earliest commercial and cultural center of the Bluegrass region at the edge of the new Western frontier, Lexington was in its early days nicknamed “Athens of the West.”
